Loose Meat Sandwich

      Cooking Time: 20 mins.  |  Good For 4 people

  • 1 pound ground beef 
  • 1/4 cup Cola - I prefer Dr. Pepper
  • 1.5 tbs yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 onion finely chopped, plus more for topping 
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns split, for serving
  • Toppings such as ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, pickles, for serving

Instructions 

  1. Brown ground beef over medium heat until no longer pink, drain fat and return to pan.
  2. To the beef add in the diced Onion, Cola, Mustard, Sugar, Salt & Pepper and cook on medium/ low for approx 15 mins to allow sauce to reduce, stirring often.
  3. Optionally if you prefer a thicker sauce you can mix 1tbp of Cornstarch to 2 tbs cold water and add this to your meat mixture and allowing to thicken for a couple more minutes. 
  4. Once thickened, place your meat mixture onto your buns with desired toppings and enjoy!
